Welcome, Give an Hour’s Newest Ambassador: Jeff Bury

By May 20, 2025Blog

Veteran • Change Leader • Resilience Builder

We are honored to welcome Jeff Bury as the newest Ambassador for Give an Hour. A passionate advocate for mental health, a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, and a leader in organizational change, Jeff brings a powerful story of resilience and purpose to our community.

Jeff’s why for joining Give an Hour as an Ambassador comes from a deep belief in the power of a single moment:

“One moment can change the course of someone’s life. One moment can be the deciding factor of whether or not someone’s family member runs out of hope and retreats to the darkness. I want to be the light. Even if I am only in a supporting role, I want to spend my time and energy on a worthy cause. I want to make a difference.”

From Defender to Difference-Maker

Jeff Bury served in the U.S. Air Force for two decades as a “Defender” in the Security Forces career field. His military service included assignments across the U.S., Europe, and the Pacific, with deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. During his final enlistment, Jeff was selected to serve in the top 1% of the enlisted force as a Chief Master Sergeant, acting as a strategic advisor to commanders and guiding enlisted matters, morale, and professional development.

Jeff has received numerous awards for his performance and leadership, including Squadron NCO of the Year, Distinguished Graduate of the Air Education and Training Command, and the Lance P. Sijan Leadership Award, which honors those who exemplify leadership, character, and courage.

Following his military retirement, Jeff transitioned into the business world and now works as a Management Consultant, specializing in organizational change management. He helps senior leaders plan and execute large-scale transformation initiatives, focusing on people, processes, and long-term success.

A Life Anchored in Nature and Compassion

Jeff grew up in a small town in upstate New York—so small it had just one stoplight. That strong sense of simplicity, nature, and community still grounds him today. His happy place is Lake Placid, NY, nestled in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Surrounded by breathtaking views and quiet moments in nature, Jeff and his family make an intentional trip there every year for what he calls a therapeutic reset. It’s their time to unplug, reconnect, and recharge—hiking scenic trails, strolling through the woods, swimming in clear mountain lakes, and kayaking together. For Jeff, Lake Placid isn’t just a vacation destination—it’s a reminder of the healing power of nature, family, and being present.

Jeff’s passion for mental health advocacy stems from his desire to support others in coping with high-functioning anxiety, depression, and suicide. His calm presence, genuine empathy, and leadership experience make him an invaluable part of the Give an Hour Ambassador network.

Please join us in welcoming Jeff Bury to the Give an Hour family. We are grateful for his service and leadership—and we are excited to make a difference together, one moment at a time.
