Military Spouse Mental Health Profession Network is Launched

By June 25, 2016 No Comments

Give an Hour and the National Military Family Association, with the support of United Health Foundation, have teamed up to ease spouses’ transitions from graduate school through licensure to jobs in behavioral health.

Our goal is to alleviate the national shortage of providers, and enhance the wellness of service members, veterans, and military families.

Military spouses struggle to enter the mental health profession due to frequent moves and other lifestyle challenges. Through NMFA’s scholarship and advocacy efforts, combined with Give an Hour’s Military Spouse Mental Health Profession Network, designed to connect and guide spouses, we plan to tackle them.

“We are proud to partner with NMFA and United Health Foundation on this critical effort,” said Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen, Founder and President of Give an Hour. “Through this network, we have the opportunity to support military spouses as they pursue their professional goals while expanding the pool of much needed mental health professionals throughout the country.” The full press release is available at www.unitedhealthfoundation.org
