NORFOLK, Va. – Give an Hour announces a partnership with the United Way of South Hampton Roads and its newest initiative, Mission United. Active duty military members, their families and veterans in need can get services and support through the new website www.missionunited-hr.org launching on Veterans Day 2016, in addition to calling 757-858-7777.

Powered by veteran-owned software company, UniteUS, Mission United unites vetted human services organizations such as Give an Hour into one collaborative and streamlined on-line portal. A Mission United case manager is assigned to help each client obtain any additional services they may need, and to manage client progress to a successful outcome. This “one-stop-shop” approach provides the efficiency appropriate for client needs that are often immediate.

About Give an Hour

Give an Hour, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) providing free mental health services to military members, veterans, and their families, was founded in September 2005 by Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen, a psychologist in the Washington, D.C., area. Give an Hour has been instrumental in the development of the community-based approach to addressing the challenges that face our nation’s military community, having created a successful model for harnessing skill-based volunteers eager to offer their services. Thus far, the network of nearly 7,000 licensed mental health professionals has provided more than 200,000 hours of care and support to those in need.
