GAH’s founder speaks at Veteran’s Mental Health Symposium

Give an Hour’s founder and president, Dr. Barbara Van Dahlen spoke and held a question & answer session at a Veteran’s Mental Health Symposium presented by VFW Post 3308 at the Westminster Oaks Maguire Center in Tallahassee, Florida.

From the Tallahassee Democrat article:

“You don’t need to be a clinician to recognize when somebody is not themselves,” Dahlen said. She listed five signs of post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD: Not feeling like yourself, feeling agitated, feeling socially withdrawn, not taking care of yourself and feeling hopeless.

By making the five signs easily recognizable through the campaign [to Change Direction], Van Dahlen hopes more family members, friends and loved ones will help those suffering find avenues that can lead to healing.
