Empowering Mental Health Providers: Leveraging National Center for PTSD Resources and Expert Consultation

Description: This educational presentation seeks to expand the attendees’ understanding of PTSD assessment and treatment, specifically concerning Veterans. The speakers will also highlight the National Center for PTSD resources, including VA mental health apps, PTSD Treatment Decision Aid, and AboutFace. Examples of how these resources can be used to enhance and supplement clinical care will be provided. Attendees will gain an understanding of the essential assessment and treatment takeaways from the updated VA/DoD clinical practice guidelines for PTSD. This presentation will also delve into additional resources to help support the clinical care provided to Veterans diagnosed with PTSD.

Objectives:

  • Identify at least 3 symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and how they may present in a Veteran population.
  • Understand at least 3 VA/DoD clinical practice guideline recommendations for the treatment of PTSD.
  • Be able to identify at least 3 National Center for PTSD resources and educational products.
