August 2024 Military Mile Cohort

We appreciate the openness and willingness to engage in critical discussions during the training facilitated in August 2024. We are excited to share the results of the survey, which highlights the significant impact of the training and areas where we have seen growth and improvement. Also on this page you will find resources for the next step in your mental health journey with us.

During our time together, many of you demonstrated a remarkable increase in comfort level of these mental health topics:

  • Engaging in Mental Health Conversations: The most significant improvement was in engaging in conversations about mental health with your peers, showing an average growth of 64.66%.
  • Seeking Mental Health Support: Many of you experienced a 46.25% increase in comfort when seeking mental health support from others.
  • Asking Open-Ended Questions: There was a 31.83% improvement in comfort asking open-ended questions to foster deeper conversations.
  • Active Listening Skills: A more modest growth of 7.70% was seen in confidence for active listening, which we will take into account for future pieces of training.
  • Familiarity with Give an Hour’s Face the Five improved significantly by 178.51%
  • By the end of the training participants felt confident in identifying the below Signs in their peers:
  • Personality Changes: 95.65%
  • Anger, Anxiety, or Moodiness: 86.96%
  • Withdrawal or Isolation: 78.26%
  • Neglecting Self-Care or Risky Behavior: 78.26%
  • Hopelessness or Overwhelm: 56.52%

We hear you and will take the following into consideration!

  • Many of you felt more comfortable sharing personal thoughts and emotions after the program, highlighting the sense of camaraderie it fostered.
  • The group exercises and communal learning methods played a pivotal role in helping you feel comfortable and more open to emotional discussions.
  • There was a notable interest in expanding the program content to address additional mental health topics such as ADHD, addiction, and how to navigate sensitive situations like suicidal ideation with groups such as yours.
