Closing the Loop

August 2024 Warrior Wellness Cohort

We appreciate the openness and willingness to engage in critical discussions during the training facilitated in August 2024. We are excited to share the results of the survey, which highlights the significant impact of the training and areas where we have seen growth and improvement. Also on this page you will find resources for the next step in your mental health journey with us.

The presentation and engagement was great.

It opened the idea of getting into someone's issue without getting too personal or putting pressure on them.

I learned that active listening is very important.

I learned it’s important to open up and not let it bottle up.

I see now why it's so important to talk and ask people how they are doing.

It has allowed me to feel more comfortable to share where necessary.

During our time together, many of you demonstrated a remarkable increase in comfort level of these mental health topics:

  • Engaging in Mental Health Conversations: The most significant improvement was seen in comfort levels discussing mental health with peers, with an 88.92% increase. While there was a 23.66% increase in overall comfort discussing mental health, it suggests there’s more work to be done in fostering these crucial conversations with you.
  • Seeking and Offering Support: You all reported a 72.83% increase in comfort seeking mental health support from others and a 12.97% growth in offering that support.
  • Active Listening and Open-Ended Questions: There was a 37.18% improvement in comfort with asking open-ended questions and a 12.50% growth in confidence in active listening skills.

We hear you and will take the following into consideration!

  • Definition of “Peer”: Varied interpretations of “peer” suggest a need to standardize this term in future sessions with you, to ensure everyone is on the same page.
  • Engagement and Hands-On Activities: Many of you suggested adding more hands-on activities and brain teasers, especially from Day 2, to maintain engagement and make the training more interactive during our visit.
  • Trust and Confidentiality: The biggest barrier we’ve identified to sharing personal challenges was a lack of trust in peers and concerns about confidentiality. We look to find ways to Create a more comfortable, less formal environment might help foster trust and openness.
