Closing the Loop

December 2024 Military Mile Cohort

We appreciate the openness and willingness to engage in critical discussions during the training facilitated in December 2024. We are excited to share the results of the survey, which highlights the significant impact of the training and areas where we have seen growth and improvement. Also on this page you will find resources for the next step in your mental health journey with us.

“It's okay to talk about your problems, most of the time all a person needs is to be heard.”

“It changed, (it) made me realize that everyone goes through something small or big.”

“It helped me know what to look for in someone who may need help.”

During our time together, many of you demonstrated an increase in comfort level of these mental health topics:

  • Engaging in Mental Health Conversations: Significant increase in comfortability in engaging in conversations with peers about mental health 65%.
  • Seeking Mental Health Support: A considerable increase in improvement in their comfortability seeking mental health support to others, with an average growth of 52%, and an improvement in offering mental health support to others (16%).
  • Asking Open-Ended Questions: A growth (17%) in comfortability in asking open-ended questions for deeper conversation.
  • Active Listening Skills: A growth in confidence for active listening skills (18%).
  • Familiarity with Give an Hour’s Face the Five improved significantly by 173%

We hear you and will take the following into consideration!

  • One individual expressed interest in learning more about advanced active listening skills, while another person expressed interest in having greater access to peers to connect with.

  • Participants also mentioned suggestions to enhance the content through more visual examples, with one person identifying “real stories on videos” as a suggestion.
