November 2024 Military Mile Cohort

We appreciate the openness and willingness to engage in critical discussions during the training facilitated in November 2024. We are excited to share the results of the survey, which highlights the significant impact of the training and areas where we have seen growth and improvement. Also on this page you will find resources for the next step in your mental health journey with us.

Before I wasn't comfortable at all talking to some of these people but now i feel more comfortable.

Sometimes people say they are fine but they are not...

One of my biggest barriers in sharing personal challenges with my peers is confidence and trust.

One of my biggest barriers in sharing personal challenges with my peers is not liking to talk about my emotions.

I hope to learn to identify signs of emotional suffering and helping others improved their mental health as well as mine

During our time together, many of you demonstrated a remarkable increase in comfort level of these mental health topics:

  • Engaging in Mental Health Conversations: There was a greater than average increase in comfortability in engaging in conversations with peers about mental health 98%.
  • Seeking Mental Health Support: The most significant increase in improvement in their comfortability seeking mental health support to others, with an average growth of 205%, and an improvement in offering mental health support to others (139.6%).  
  • Asking Open-Ended Questions: A slight growth (35.6%) in comfortability in asking open-ended questions for deeper conversation.  
  • Active Listening Skills: Average growth in confidence for active listening skills (44%).
  • Familiarity with Give an Hour’s Face the Five improved significantly by 180%

We hear you and will take the following into consideration!

  • Some participants suggested increasing engagement and fostering connection in future trainings such as interactive (i.e: videos) and fun activities (i.e: role-playing)

  • Participants also sought more time to interact with each other to build trust.

  • Many participants are interested in having a greater understanding and actionable knowledge about mental health, such as improving their communication skills, and developing coping mechanisms.
