Program Overview

Through the generous support of the Muller Family Foundation, Give an Hour California provides free and confidential mental health services to income eligible middle and high school age youth in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. Through this partnership, we offer counseling and resources to those in need. We are also proud to bring Give an Hour’s public health initiative, the Campaign to Change Direction to those we work with to ensure that families, children and youth know The Five Signs of Emotional Suffering and the Healthy Habits of Emotional Well-Being. Our goal is to implement a holistic approach to empower the families and youth we work with so that they develop into resilient, compassionate, confident and happy members of society.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to receive services through the Give an Hour Healthy Minds California Project, you must:

  • Be a resident of Ventura or Los Angeles County, California
  • Be enrolled in a middle school or high school
  • Be referred to the project by one of our partner referral sources
    • Conejo Valley Unified School District’s Breakthrough Program
    • Las Virgenes Unified School District’s Community 360 Program

Give an Hour CA Healthy Minds

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Give an Hour California Healthy Minds program. Give an Hour is a national nonprofit organization with a large network of mental health professionals who offer no-fee mental health counseling to those in need.  In order to gain access to the Give an Hour Healthy Minds program’s mental health providers/services in your area, please complete the form below. Please know, your name and client demographic information will be kept confidential by Give an Hour and used solely for the purpose of anonymous tracking for the utilization of this program. Once you complete the information necessary, you and your client will be contacted by a Give an Hour referral specialist who will work with you to find a suitable mental health provider in your area.  If you have any questions, please contact kthompson@ giveanhour.org. If you have not heard from a Give an Hour referral specialist within 72 hours please contact info@giveanhour.org.

Steps and Tips to Get Care

NOTE: Give an Hour Healthy Minds services are for eligible youth who are residents of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties.

What to Expect:

  • Eligible youth will receive NO COST and confidential counseling, with no charges or insurance billed by a Give an Hour provider.
  • Eligible youth will talk with a licensed mental health provider about their concerns.
  • Eligible youth will be able to talk in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment.
  • Eligible youth will be referred to additional mental health services and resources if needed.
