Due to the planned retirement of its CEO on July 1, 2021, Give an Hour (GAH) is looking for a new Chief Executive Officer. This national 501c3 nonprofit is based in the Washington, DC area, with a staff of 20 working virtually from 10 states and a typical budget of approximately $2M annually. Give an Hour has provided more than 340,000 hours of free mental health care to veterans, service members, families and others in need, through its volunteer network of 4,500 licensed mental health professionals nationwide.
Give an Hour’s mission is to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of all persons, based on three pillars: Increasing access to free mental health services for high-risk populations, providing mental health education for early identification and prevention of emotional suffering, and changing the negative culture around mental health.
The CEO must have a strong and demonstrable record of fundraising to execute strategic objectives. She/he will work in partnership with the Board of Directors and will be accountable for strategic planning, business development, and fiscal operations. The CEO will also determine overarching goals and initiatives of the organization, manage the staff, and establish powerful relationships with stakeholders and other nonprofit leaders. Ideal candidates will have experience in nonprofit leadership, the mental health sector and/or experience with veteran, military and other at-risk populations.
